Mojang released the first preview snapshot for Minecraft 1.8 this week, with lots of new features!

• new types of stone
• a bouncy slime block
• changes to enchanting
• changes to villager trading
• loads of annoying minor changes that will mean I have to do a lot of work on the website and nobody will even notice the difference!

Here is our guide to playing with the snapshots. Be careful! Snapshot releases are not intended for general use and contain lots of bugs that could ruin your game world. Our guide contains a number of tips on how to stay safe.

What’s coming up in Minecraft 1.8?
