A new post on the Mojang Blog is a timely reminder to keep your Minecraft password safe.
Some people have recently had their passwords stolen and Mojang would like to say that:
- They have not been ‘hacked’!
- If you are one of the people who is affected by this, you will have had an email from Mojang. No email? No need to worry!
Here are a few tips for keeping your password safe:
- never, ever, put your Minecraft login details into a website that is not an official Mojang website!
- if you receive an email that says you should ‘click here’ and log in with your Minecraft details, be very careful. It’s probably a scam. If in doubt, go to the Mojang website by typing www.mojang.com into your browser and not by clicking on a link in the email.
- try to have different passwords for your different games, websites, services etc. I know it’s hard but there are password manager programs that can help you with this.
- the harder your password is to guess, the safer you are. It should never be the same as your Minecraft name!
- if you’re worried, go here to reset your password: https://minecraft.net/resetpassword.
