A reminder to keep your password safe.

Jan 22, 2015

A new post on the Mojang Blog is a timely reminder to keep your Minecraft password safe.

Some people have recently had their passwords stolen and Mojang would like to say that:

  1. They have not been ‘hacked’!
  2. If you are one of the people who is affected by this, you will have had an email from Mojang. No email? No need to worry!

Here are a few tips for keeping your password safe:

  • never, ever, put your Minecraft login details into a website that is not an official Mojang website!
  • if you receive an email that says you should ‘click here’ and log in with your Minecraft details, be very careful. It’s probably a scam. If in doubt, go to the Mojang website by typing www.mojang.com into your browser and not by clicking on a link in the email.
  • try to have different passwords for your different games, websites, services etc. I know it’s hard but there are password manager programs that can help you with this.
  • the harder your password is to guess, the safer you are. It should never be the same as your Minecraft name!
  • if you’re worried, go here to reset your password: https://minecraft.net/resetpassword.
